When one door closes, another opens.
Months after his GMA 7
showbiz-oriented talk show “Showbiz Central” and the primetime series
“Makapiling Kang Muli” went off the air, is John 'Sweet' Lapus ready to
become a full-fledged Kapamilya artist again?
“Touched na touched ako,” he gushed. “Sa oras ng kawalan, ang mga tunay kong kaibigan sa ABS ang nakaalala sa kin. Kanina lang kami ng storycon (story conference).”
John admits he has yet to get a network contract but negotiations are underway for one. And he feels optimistic about turning into a full-fledged Kapamilya.
“Malamang magkaroon ng network contract,” he says.
Saying good-bye
John is happy he had enough time to bid goodbye to his Kapuso friends like Marian Rivera, Pia Guanio and Raymond Gutierrez.
“They were very, very sad but they understood my situation,” notes John.
Marian, a Kapuso artist even told John, “Ilang lakad lang ang GMA sa ABS.”

“We will still get in touch. I have their personal numbers,” relates John, who is also part of TV5’s “Talentadong Pinoy.”He admitted turning emotional when he saw familiar faces in ABS-CBN and its film production arm, Star Cinema, where John used to work as Creative Consultant.
“Kinabahan ako kasi hindi ko alam kung ano ang magiging reaction nila. Tapos lahat ng staff, lahat ng kaibigan ko, nandon.”

John will star with Kapamilya artists Angeline Quinto, Sam Milby and Paulo Avelino in “Kahit Konting Pagtingin,” which will start airing in January 2013.
He will tape for the soap while promoting “Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Ako,” which stars Vic Sotto, Sen. Bong Revilla, Judy Ann Santos, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Sam Pinto, Jolo Revilla, Jillian Ward and others.That’s why John is glad he hasn’t made definite plans for Christmas.
“Sasali ako sa (Metro Filmfest) parade sa Dec. 23,” he vows.
“Agimat,” a story about family, marriage, friendship, responsibility, forgiveness and love for nature, is one of the entries for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival. It opens Dec. 25 in theaters nationwide.
