Marian doesn’t want Dingdong as business partner

They are partners in love, but not in business.

That’s how Marian Rivera wants things to be between her and Dingdong Dantes, now that she has ventured into movie production herself via the comedy “Kung Fu Divas.”

“Okay, may relasyon kami. May kanya kanya kaming trabaho. Pero ayaw kong makasosyo si Dingdong (whose company, Agosto Dos, has produced a couple of films). Hindi sa lahat ng bagay magkasama kami.”

Marian thinks this kind of set-up could actually save their relationship.

“Baka wala na kaming mapag-usapan kapag nagde-date kaming dalawa. Mabuti na yung may alam ako na hindi niya alam at may alam siya na hindi ko alam. Mas marami kaming mapag-uusapan at mas ma-i-in love kami sa isa’t isa.”

Marian is grateful her home network, GMA 7 allowed her to do “Kung Fu Divas” for Star Cinema, the movie arm of the Kapuso channel’s rival network, ABS-CBN.

“Sobrang love nila ako at hindi sila nagdalawang isip na payagan ako. Mahal ko ang GMA and proud ako na nasa GMA ako.”

First-time producer

The first-time producer asked a lot of questions from co-star Ai Ai delas Alas, who also produced the movie. After all,  Ai Ai co-produced the box-office hit “Sisterakas” for the 2012 Metro Manila Filmfest.

“Ibang karanasan ang pagiging producer. Kailangang parati kang nandoon. Kailangan may approval ka. Masarap ang pakiramdam. Hindi ko mababayaran ang experience ng pagiging producer at ang makasama ang mga taga Star Cinema (which is  also co-producing Kung Fu Divas with Reality Entertainment),” Marian relates.

Her other co-stars, Nova Villa, Roderick Paulate, Edward Mendez and Bianca Manalo report that Marian made sure catered food was always available on the set.

Veteran comedians Nova and Roderick was not only impressed with Marian’s generosity.  They also see a natural comedian in her.

Nova and Roderick add that they first saw this for themselves on the set of the GMA sitcom  “Tweets For My Sweet,” where the three of them worked together in 2012.

True enough, Marian admits she can also be “kalog.”

Add the word “submissive” as well.

Ai Ai relates how Marian told her that she would ask Dingdong’s help to clean the aquarium as a sign that she (Marian)  is submitting to his ‘expertise’ in doing certain things.

The truth is, Ai Ai laughs, Marian herself said she can do the job herself, everyday, if needed.  But since she wants to show Dingdong how much she needs him, the actress chooses to play the role of damsel in distress instead.

Marian need not say anything.  Her smile and  silence say, “Agree!”

(“Kung Fu Divas” hits theaters nationwide on Wednesday, Oct. 2).
