Yahoo! OMG! Awards 2012 makes presence felt online

When fans meet the brightest stars, you can be sure it will be felt online.

This is what happened during the 2nd Yahoo! OMG! Awards held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday, July 6.

Even before the OMG! Awards program started, the topic OMG Awards trended ninth on Twitter Philippines.

When the awarding ceremony started at around 8 p.m., the topic Yahoo OMG Awards trended on Twitter Philippines. At one point, it was the fifth Philippine Twitter topic.

JuliElmo too

The hashtag #OMGJuliElmo (JulieElmo stands for Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona, the Kapuso love team) also trended on Twitter Philippines. Both stars were nominated in the Yahoo! OMG! Awards. Although neither of them won, the fans felt their idols are still winners.

Julie Anne performed at the event with Gloc-9 and Sam Concepcion. Elmo, unfortunately, was not able to attend the event.

Some of the stars who came to the awards rites —easily one of the biggest showbiz events of the season—tweeted pictures of the outfits they wore to the event.

Ruffa Gutierrez posted a picture of herself wearing her Boom Sason dress with her “handsome dates” Dave and Anthony Semerad.

Those who weren’t able to attend the event to accept their award also took to Twitter to thank supporters.
“2012 is turning out to be one of my best years EVER! Thank you my fellow dreamers for makin' me Yahoo's OMG Awards Celebrity of the year!” Anne Curtis tweeted Saturday, July 6.

Anne, who is also on the cover of Yes! Magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars issue, is currently in Portugal.

Luis Manzano, 2012 Yahoo! OMG! Awards’ Male TV Host of the Year, apologized for not making it to the event.

“Yahoo OMG, once again thank you very much! I apologize again for not being there! Bawi ako hopefully next year :) thanks sa lahat ng bumoto!

The “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” host also won the Male TV Host award in last year’s OMG! Awards.

Female TV Host of the Year Bianca Gonzalez shared her award with fellow nominees through her tweet.

“I share the ‪#OMGYahooAwards tv host award with co-nominees toni, ate kris, luis, tito boy because i won't be the host i am without them. :)” she said. The multi-hyphenate celebrity was in Bulacan for the rehearsals of the “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4” finale.

Angel Locsin  tweeted her thanks for her three awards: Actress of the Year, Movie of the Year (‘Unofficially Yours,” with John Lloyd Cruz), and It Couple of the Year (with boyfriend Phil Younghusband). The actress was in Baguio taping for her upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry during the awards night.

“Thank you to everyone who voted in the yahoo OMG awards for Angel and I as " it couple" and to everyone who voted Angel best actress and movie of the year :D congratulations my love! @143redangel ;) thank you for all your support guys! It really means a lot,” Angel’s boyfriend, Phil Younghusband tweeted.

The 2012 edition of the Yahoo! OMG! Awards had 26 categories and garnered over four million online and text votes in a span of one month.
