Robi wants to be the next Ryan and Luis

Now that he’s getting more involved in  hosting, new “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Unlimited” host Robi Domingo wants to be the next Luis Manzano or Ryan Agoncillo.

“Naisip ko, sino kaya ang susunod na host sa generation namin? So, why not become the next Ryan (Agoncillo) and Luis Manzano?,” Robi told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! at the press conference of “Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited” at Elements Centris on Tuesday, October 18.

He goes on, "Iniisip ko, 'Oo nga, wala pa naman (sa generation namin), so bakit hindi na lang ako mag-umpisa? At least, pag medyo pa-graduate na sina Luis, Billy (Crawford) and the others, may susunod naman na kukuha ng mga hosting jobs na nagre-require ng mga talents and skills na ganoon.”

Robi is not new in the field.  He  was a  MYX veejay and currently hosts “ASAP Rocks.”

Hosting “PBB” is one of his dreams. So he was very elated when  its director Lauren Dyogi informed of his new stint.

“Sobrang tuwa ko. Nasurprise ako, and noong sinabi niya (Lauren Dyogi) sa akin, nakangiti na ako buong meeting. Isa ito sa mga pinapangarap kong roles, then nakuha ko na,” Robi said, smiling.

Robi is very thankful to his director and ABS-CBN  management for the new job.

He shared that although he didn’t audition for the spot,  he is willing to do so if needed.

“Maraming salamat kay Direk Lauren at saka sa management sa pagpili sa akin. Kung may audition man para maging host ng PBB Unlimited, definitely ako yung pinakauna doon,” Robi said.

Challenging

Robi points out that hosting a big show like  PBB is very challenging, especially now that  he’s joining long-time hosts Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzales on the job.

"It's a different kind of ball game. Ngayon, ibang-iba na. Kasama mo si Toni and Bianca, ibang level na ito,” Robi said.

He told the press that despite his prior experience in TV hosting, he still has so much to learn and improve on.

“Kailangan taasan mo na din yung level mo and ipakita mo na lahat. Dito, matsa-challenge talaga kung ano 'yong hosting capabilities ko,” Robi added.

He likes to meet the standards he set for himself and people’s expectations as well.

“Pag nalampasan ko ito, alam ko sa sarili ko na I've proven myself worthy of, you know, becoming a host,” Robi said.

He also shared that he’s afraid of buckling in front of millions of televiewers.

"Kinakatakutan ko is pag hindi ako naging at par with Toni and Bianca, yun talaga yung biggest fear ko, eh,” he said.

Robi said that he hopes he will be able to prove his worth as a  PBB host.

"Ayokong masabihan ng mga tao na, 'Uy, si Direk nagkamali sa pagpili niya.’ Gusto ko masabi ng lahat ng tao na, 'Ang galing ni direk dahil nakuha niya si Robi,” he said.

Since he was a PBB housemate himself, Robi thinks his experience inside the house can help him in his new job.

New perspective

"I think mabibigyan ng bagong perspective 'yong show dahil nanggaling din ako sa show. I have fresh and new ideas and I know the market because I'm part of the market,” Robi relates.

Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited’s primer, “The Audition Stories” airs on October 24. “PBB Unlimited Update” is shown every weeknight. The show itself starts airing on October 29.
