Only on OMG! - Pregnancy is a pleasant surprise for Geneva

Geneva Cruz admits she has been praying for another child “since many years back.”

Her son, Heaven, already 17, used to tell her he wants a baby brother or sister. But Geneva has had three miscarriages with ex-husband, KC Montero.

“I began to believe I couldn't have children anymore,” she told Yahoo Philippines OMG!

It even got to the point where Geneva and her fiancé, Lee Paulsen, thought of  adopting a child – preferably a Filipino, “knowing that there are so many children that need love and care.”

Until the couple  went to Paris after Lee proposed in the United Kingdom – and the miracle happened.

“Something magical has been created from our love,” Geneva laughs.

As of posting time, Geneva is eight weeks pregnant. She took two different pregnancy tests just to make sure.

And now, Lee and Heaven are smiling from ear to ear over the new addition to the family.

Geneva recalls how Lee and Heaven’s jaws dropped when they first learned the good news.  Then huge smiles spread across their faces.

So Geneva is moving heaven and earth to make sure the delicate pregnancy proceeds  without a hitch.  A few days ago, Geneva  saw her obstetrician, who gave the 37-year-old singer a list of dos and don’ts.

Dos and don’ts

Do take a bed rest, he told her.  Don’t dance or do strenuous workouts for now, the doctor added.  That means she can’t work until after she gives birth.

“I cannot be kulit... all for the sake of little bubba,” Geneva added.

Like any good wife-to-be and mother, she’s following doctor’s orders. Geneva is taking lots of vitamins.

“You name it, I'm taking it. I'm not very fond of medicines but I know I’ve got to take them for my baby. I drink Anmum as well. My cousin Donna (Cruz) told me to drink that regularly, and it's so yummy! :D I’m also trying to remain as stress-free as possible while physically relaxing at home with my family as my support system,” Geneva said in her email.

Yes, singing is her lifelong passion, but Geneva insists being a wife and mother comes first.

“Nothing is more important than family. I've lost it before, and I'm determined to never lose it again.”

Yes, she can still sing on the side, “if my fans still want me to keep on singing.”

But as of now, all Geneva can think of is attending to her little bsby, not going back to work.

“I think I'll have a hard time wanting to go back to work when he or she is born.”

After all, Geneva can always  sing a lullaby for her little “bubba,” and perhaps produce another singer or musician to add to the long list of artists in the family .

And she has a new album, “To Manila,” which her fans can always listen to while Geneva is away from the public eye and busy being a mother the second time around.

Yes, family comes first, even for a passionate singer like Geneva.
