Megan Young is one step closer to Miss World Top 5

(UPDATE) Miss World's Philippine bet Megan Young, who now ranks second in the online poll, is inching closer to the top in the pageant finals.

According to the Miss World  website, Megan is next to Gibraltar’s Maroua Kharbouch in the People’s Champion contest, and is ahead of contestants from Mexico, Dominica, Malaysia, Cote D’Ivoire, Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

Whoever tops the online poll, which closes at 20:30 (GMT+8) on September 28, will automatically get a place in the Top 5. Voting is still on in the Miss World 2013 app available on iOS and Android devices.

"The person with the most votes will be declared the People’s Champion, and regardless of the points she has on the board, she will go straight into the climatic finale,” Miss World posted in the website.

The said fast-track scheme is Miss World's way of engaging the public in choosing its own bet to the finals, regardless of her standing in the pageant’s other rounds.

Top Model winner

Ahead of tomorrow's coronation in Bogor, Indonesia, Miss World also announced that the 23-year-old actress won the Top Model category--toppling the United States, France, Ukraine and Brazil in one of the five major challenge events in the pageant.

The Fil-Am actress also finished fifth among the 11 finalists in the Beach Fashion Final, and fourth in the Multimedia category.

The world will also see her in the coronation night’s opening number  because Megan is one of the lucky few who will perform a dance from her home country.  Megan will perform Singkil, a Maranao dance which originated in Lanao del Sur.
