Martin del Rosario scores a series of firsts

Martin del Rosario admits feeling nervous about a series of firsts in showbiz―first lead role, first love team and first kissing scene.

“Kinabahan ako medyo kasi first ever ako magkaroon ng first kissing scene, first love team,” Martin said at the press conference of “Pintada” in ABS-CBN on Monday, July 23.

Martin goes daring as a student who falls in love with his teacher (played by Denise Laurel) and shows some skin in his intimate scenes with her.

Provocative role

Martin doesn’t mind doing a “provocative” role, as long as the script requires it and the scenes are done in good taste.

Although this is his first team-up with Denise, Martin already feels comfortable with her since they’ve known each other for a long time.

Nagtutulungan kami sa scenes namin,” Martin said.

Older women

The five-year gap between them is no issue for Martin and Denise. In fact, Martin reveals that he has fallen in love with ladies older than him.

“Karamihan ng ex ko, mas matanda talaga. Pag mas bata kasi, holding hands, naiilang-ilang, medyo awkward. Kapag mas matanda, akbayan mo, parang kaibigan lang.”

Martin waited patiently for four years before finally getting the lead role in “Pintada.”

Stepping stone

His stepping stone was “Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin,” where he played a military man who falls in love wth Andi Eigenmann’s character.

He thanks viewers for supporting “Pintada” despite its sensitive topic. The TV drama trended on Twitter in its pilot week.

“Nagpasalamat ako kasi kahit sensitive yung topic about a student and a teacher, mataas naman ang rating. Sa Twitter nagti-trend rin siya.”
