Barretto family feud worsens
Gretchen Barretto is reportedly taking legal action against her US-based sister, Gia Barretto-Reyes for statements the latter said against her as published in “The Philippine Star.”
“Startalk’s” May 4 edition quoted Gretchen’s text message to Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon.
The text message reads, “"Forgive me, Jo-Ann, masakit pag-usapan o balikan ang aking nakaraan. I was advised by my lawyers here in Manila and our American lawyers to keep mum. We will let the case speak for itself. Masakit itong gagawin kong hakbang pero kinakailangan para makamit ko ang aking katahimikan.”
Her legal counsel also advised Gretchen to take legal action in the US (specifically Boston, Massachusettes), where Gia is based.
It will be recalled that Gia told Gretchen in a letter that “You have hurt us in ways that have put decency to shame, you have had no rules when you attacked us.” Gia’s letter came days after Barretto matriarch Inday called Gretchen a “liar” in a statement published also in “The Philippine Star” entertainment editor Ricky Lo’s column.
In her April 28 statement on “The Buzz,’ Gretchen said that she has “no answer for a possibility of reconciliation.”
