Eula denies split with long-time partner

Eula Valdez denied splitting up with her long-time partner Rocky Salumbides, a model and a former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate, saying that their relationship is still very strong.

Speculations about their relationship arose after Eula was seen with a younger man during a public event.

"Hindi ako lumalabas na may ibang lalaking kasama bukod kay Rocky,” Eula said at the press conference of the ABS-CBN soap, “Mundo Man ay Magunaw” on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Eula clarified that she and Rocky are still together and believes that her 17-year-old son Miguel must have been mistaken for the “younger man” Eula was seen out with.

“Yun ang pumasok sa isip ko na baka nakita kami kasi umattend kami sa premiere night na siya ang kasama ko,” she said, adding that her 17-year-old son with actor Ronnie Quizon is 5’11”.

What would devastate Eula

The actress was also asked what, if any, would crush her world—a question that was inspired by the title of the soap.

Eula said losing her children would devastate her. “Kasi naka-dalawang split na ako (from previous partners) at hindi naman nagunaw ang mundo ko. Ang paniniwala ko, hindi naman sa akin nanggaling ang lalaking yan, eh.

“Ang ikagugunaw lang ng mundo ko ay kapag nawala ang dalawang anak ko, pag may nangyaring masama sa kanila,” she said.

In her new teleserye, Eula goes against type and plays the protagonist Olivia, an ex-convict who wants to get her children back.

‘Bida’ or ‘kontrabida’ roles?

Asked if the villain role she often plays is more challenging than being the protagonist, Eula replied, “Pareho lang.”

Eula’s star rose when she played the villain Amor Powers in the soap, “Pangako Sa ’Yo,” which ran from 2000-2002.

“Kasi kapag gumawa ako ng role na mabuti, breather sa akin yung susunod naman na role na masama. Nai-enjoy ko rin siya, pero na-realize ko lang rin nung gumawa ako ng ‘Mula sa Puso’ na nakakapagod pala kasi yun yung pinakasamang nagkaroon ako ng role…. Nakakapagod palang magalit, drained ako,” she admitted.

Her latest series, “Mundo Man ay Magunaw,” also stars Empress Schuck, Ejay Falcon, Sylvia Sanchez, Tessie Tomas, Pinky Amador, Allan Paule, Dianne Medina, Alex Castro and Jason Gainza. It begins airing on Jan. 30.
