Ella Cruz takes on Shake, Rattle and Roll
Teen actress Ella Cruz is a rose among the thorns in the male-dominated cast of the “The Lost Command” episode of “Shake, Rattle and Roll 14: The Invasion.”
But she gets along with all them since Ella treats her co-stars -- Paulo Avelino, Dennis Trillo, Martin Escudero, Makisig Morales, AJ Dee, Ronnie Lazaro, Alex Castro, etc. – as older brothers.

Ella singles out a few she is most comfortable with. “Lagi kong nakakausap si Mak (Makisig) kasi kami yung magka-age doon. Sila kuya Paulo (Avelino), si kuya Dennis (Trillo), si kuya Alex (Castro), matagal ko rin kasi silang kilala.”
Light mood on the set
The mood on the set is light, even if they’re shooting a horror film.
“Si Mak (Makisig) matagal ko na siyang nakasama dati. So, nagkukulitan lang. sa mga kulitan ng mga lalaki, nakakasama rin ako. Pero masaya rin kasi mga kuya ko silang lahat,” Ella said.
She reports that her male co-stars always tease her, especially if she just arrived on the set.
“Madalas kasi late call ako kasi galing pa sa taping (for the fantaserye “Aryana”). So, kapag darating ako sa set, ako na yung pagti-tripan nila kasi ako yung kararating lang sa kanila. Ang kukulit nila.”
Although Ella already starred in a Metro Manila Film Festival entry, this is her first time to be part of Regal Films’ “Shake, Rattle and Roll” franchise. She plays Erlinda, a blind girl who guides the lost soldiers in the forest.

“Sobrang saya ko. Surprised na kasali ako sa “Shake, Rattle and Roll.” Kasi nung time na nagsisimula pa lang yung 'Aryana,' alam ko naka-set na yung MMFF. Sabi ko, sana next year makagawa na ako ng movie. Hindi ko ini-expect na dito pa sa “SRR” ako nakapunta. Kaya sobrang excited ako,” Ella said.
As this is her first horror movie, Ella feels challenged and pressured at the same time.
“Horror ito, hindi fantaserye tulad ng 'Aryana.' Tapos, bulag pa ako dito. Pressured pero at the same time, ginagalingan ko rin naman.”
