Dingdong to produce film for Marian

After co-producing the hit Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Segunda Mano,” Dingdong Dantes dons his producer hat once again for the upcoming horror film
“Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles.”

Is it possible for him to produce a film for girlfriend Marian Rivera?

“Yes. In fact, it’s already in the works,” Dingdong told Yahoo! OMG! Philippines and other members of the press during an interview on Sunday, August 19. “Kumbaga, may binubuo kami.”

The Kapuso star explained that the project was presented to him by the same team responsible for “Tiktik.”

“Naexcite kami, so we’re very interested in the project. Ginawa na namin yung first step which is kausapin yung manager niya. I think they will consider it.”

There’s still no schedule for the said project, although the actor-producer said that “one thing is for sure, we’re all very excited, all parties are very excited.”

‘Salt’

What kind of movie will he produce for Marian if he were doing it on his own? “Siguro ano, mala-‘Salt.’ Angelina Jolie. Mala-‘Salt’,” he said.

“Salt” is the 2010 action-thriller starring Angelina Jolie.

“Yung ginawa niya sa ‘Darna’ at sa ‘Amaya’ (Marian’s previous action-oriented soap operas on GMA-7), sisiw na sa kanya yung ganung klaseng mga action,” he explained.

“Bihira kang makakita sa pelikula ng babaeng gumagawa ng action.”

Why Lovi?

Why did she choose Lovi Poe over Marian for “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles”? Dingdong, after all, is the lead star of the horror film. And Marian is not new to the genre, having done “Pamahiin,” “Tarot” and the Nieves episode of “Shake, Rattle, and Roll X.”

Dingdong said it’s better if they do individual projects as artists. The movie started shooting last year, when Marian was still doing “Amaya.”

“At saka yung role, feeling ko mas swak kay Lovi,” he said.

Dingdong further shared: “And nakakaaliw nga, kasi habang ginagawa naming yun, sabay na shinoshoot yung ‘Aswang’ nya. Tapos pinalabas na at lahat, meron pa siyang ‘Guni-Guni,’ andito pa rin yung (‘Tiktik’).”

“Aswang” is the 2011 Regal Films movie which starred Lovi, Paulo Avelino and Albie Casino.

Box-office results

So far, he is happy with his film, which as early as now is getting online attention (it’s the first Filipino film to fully use CGI).

Is there a fear that the film would fail in the box- office?

“Syempre, as a producer, gugustuhin ko na maging maganda ang resulta nito sa takilya. Kasi syempre, bukod sa pagod saka dedication na ininvest, hard-earned money din yan. And it’s every producer’s na maibalik (ang investment) at kumita,” he replied.

Dingdong wants it to succeed because it’s a first in Philippine cinema.

“Kaya bukod sa maging successful sa box office, kumbaga, magandang eye-opener din siya sa lahat na we can do films like this only kapag paglalaanan mo ng mahabang proseso, panahon, and dedication.”

“Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” opens October 17.
