The Makati Prosecutor’s Office is supporting GMA Network’s libel case against actress Sarah Lahbati.

The statement GMA 7 sent to Yahoo! Philippines OMG! on Tuesday, May 28, stated that the said office has recommended the filing of libel against Sarah.

The statement  reads: “On May 3, 2013, the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati handed down a resolution recommending Kapuso actress Sarah Lahbati be criminally charged under the Revised Penal Code for libel. This case stems from her “malicious” posts on the social-networking site Twitter last January about GMA Films President Anna Teresa G. Abrogar.”

The statement added that Sarah was absent during the preliminary investigation and deliberation “to present evidence that her statements were justified and (that) they were made in good faith.”

This, the statement further said, makes them (her statements) malicious.

It will be recalled that the issue started when Sarah allegedly walked out from her taping and went on  vacation. GMA 7 said this was in violation of her  contract with the network.

Abrogar, for her part, has filed libel charges against Sarah after the actress accused the network executive of getting involved in “under the table” deals.
