Co-hosts, celebrities #prayforVhongNavarro

Vhong Navarro: The men beat me and tried to extort money from me at a condominium unit at The Fort.

The local entertainment scene tweeted their prayers Friday night following the brutal attack that sent their colleague Vhong Navarro to the hospital.

Navarro's “It’s Showtime” co-host Vice Ganda led the #PrayForVhongNavarro hashtag after news of Vhong’s condition broke out.

The normally opinionated TV host ran out of words to describe his pal’s sad state—and only managed to describe it as “nakakaiyak,” “nakakapanginig,” and “nakakapanghina.”

His fellow co-hosts Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, Jhong Hilario and Jugs Jugueta immediately echoed the hashtag—making it a worldwide trending topic in the microblogging site shortly after.

Threats remain

On Friday, his manager Chito Roño confirmed to Yahoo Philippines OMG! that his ward is set to undergo surgery next week and that “it will take time before he recovers.”

Vhong was tied, blindfolded and beaten up by a group of men after he entered a condominium on Wednesday, leaving the actor practically unable to speak and still black and blue as of press time.

Roño said the TV host will be out of all his showbiz engagements for a while because of the extent of his injuries.

He also told Yahoo that extortion and threats on Vhong remain even while the actor is still recovering.

His camp and co-workers, meanwhile, are keeping mum on the possible motive behind the brutal attack.
