Boy 2 Quizon elated over grandpa Dolphy's planned monument
Boy 2 Quizon, the late Comedy King Dolphy’s grandson, is excited about the monument Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim will soon in honor of his grandfather.

The monument to be erected along Roxas Boulevard.
“There’s something about my grandpa that transcends generations,” Boy 2 notes. “Nakakapanghinayang na hindi nila mapapanood ang lolo ko. But (Dolphy’s contribution) is something na alam ng magulang nila. Alam nila kung anong klaseng saya ang naibigay ng lolo ko sa kanila.”
The thought that someone from the government is honoring his grandfather with a monument also makes Boy 2 feel good.
“Sometimes, you can’t put it into words,” he goes on. “Nakatutuwang isipin na everytime you see my grandpa, you forget about your problems in life. Dapat cool ka lang. You smile whenever you see him.”
Boy 2 knows he can’t measure up to Dolphy’s achievements, but he’s doing his share in helping ease people’s burdens. Boy 2 is one of the producers (along with Ronald Singson and Neil Arce) of the comedy “Coming Soon.”
As Sikyu, the misguided leader of the group, Boy 2 admitted he did many things in the movie that he hasn’t done before. His character is bitter in life and falls in love with someone who is his complete opposite (Glaiza de Castro’s character Sab).
Like their characters, who are part of a peer group, Boy 2 and the rest of the young cast are friends in real life. In fact, Boy 2 felt like a kid playing on the set when he started shooting the movie.
“Noong una, trip lang. Tapos naging seryoso kami. ‘Wow, try lang natin (mag-produce),” he said.
Tough journey as producer
As expected, Boy 2’s journey as a rookie movie producer was tough. The budget is not that big, so he hopes to get moviegoers’ support via word-of-mouth advertising.
But he has no regrets since he admitted learning a lot from it.
Now he can deadpan, “Coming Soon is not just coming soon. It will be shown on Wednesday, April 17.”
And if the movie makes it big?
“Ang sequel daw nito ay `Now Showing!” the irrepressible Boy 2 replies.
“Coming Soon” also stars Andi Eigenmann, Dominic Rocco, Carla Humphries, Cholo Barretto and others.
