Andrew Wolff places second in Mr. World 2012

The Philippines’ Andrew Wolff placed  first runner-up to grand winner Francisco Javier Escobar Parra of Colombia in the recently-concluded Mr. World 2012 held on Saturday, November 24 in Kent, England.

Wolff , an athlete and former actor, also won the Multi-Media Special Award during the pageant’s fast track competitions.

Leo Dalaney of Ireland was declared second runner-up.

On the official Mr. World-Philippines Facebook account, the 27-year-old Wolff apologized for winning only second place.

“2nd place guys. Sorry :'( Salamat sa inyong lahat diyan! Mahal ko kayo!” he posted.

‘Mas matalino tayo’

Wolff shared his sentiments about the competition through  his Twitter account.

“Salamat sa lahat ng support nyo. Pasensya na sa 2nd. Akala ko manalo na ang Pilipinas, pero hindi. Mabuhay Pilipinas! Mas matalino tayo! :)”

Filipinos online are ecstatic over the news of Wolff’s first runner-up finish in Mr. World.

“Andrew Wolff suddenly became the most desirable pinoy,” one Twitter user said.

In an interview with Yahoo! OMG! Philippines prior to the competition, Wolff said he’s prepared for anything.

“It's not just about winning. It's about taking part. Being one of the candidates is already a privilege. I feel lucky and I want to thank everyone involved."

Wolff also said, “The only one who can judge me is God. Everyone deserves a chance to do the best they can in life. Everyone has his issues. No one's perfect. But I'll do the best for the Philippines."

Forty eight candidates from all over the world competed for the Mr. World title.
