Aiza gambles on Krizza Neri
What do you do when a singer takes your breath away after only a few performances?
In Aiza Seguerra’s case, the answer is easy: produce an album for her.
So she pushed all dark thoughts about an ailing recording industry at the back of her mind and released “Krizza”, debut album of Protégé grand winner Krizza Neri under her (Aiza’s) Blackbird Music label.
Aiza’s keen eye for talent told her she had a winner in the singer from Cagayan de Oro. And she’s not just referring to her voice. Aiza, Krizza’s mentor in “Protégé,” saw the young lady’s work ethic.
“Nakita ko ang passion niya sa trabaho,” notes Aiza. “Alam niya ang kailangan niyang gawin at paano gawin yon. Seldom ko nakikita yon sa iba who take singing for granted.”
So even if she knows recording labels—even imported ones—are folding up, Aiza plunked in money for the five-track album, even if she’s not sure whether it will earn or not.
‘Suntok sa Buwan’
“ Financially, suntok (ito) sa buwan,” admits Aiza. “It’s a huge investment. But I believe in Krizza, I believe in her talent. I would like to think that kahit anong hindi magandang nanyayari sa industry, good music will still be there. I just want her to be heard.”
Krizza is not only being heard. Like many celebrities, the GMA Artist Center talent has her share of bashers.
“Gumagamit sila ng ibang account para hindi sila makilala. Na-a-appreciate ko kung mismong pangalan nila ang ginagamit. Opinion nila yon. Matatanggap ko yon. Pero yung iba, personal na. Family ko na ang dinadamay. Below the belt n. Very sad,” sighs Krizza.
Aiza has a solution: “The best way to deal with them is huwag na silang pakialaman. They want us to be miserable.”
Aiza and Krizza will mount “The Protégé and the Mentor” tour on July 13 at CSI Dagupan, July 14 at Sorsogon, July 15 at Starmall EDSA, July 21 at Starmall Las PInas, July 22 at Starmall Alabang and July 20 at Starmall Bulacan.
Before that, Krizza, a regular at GMA-7’s “Party Pilipinas,” will celebrate her birthday on June 28 by releasing her debut album.
