Ai Ai delas Alas has changed her mind about getting married.  After last year’s declaration that she’s not closing her doors on marriage,  and even if her children are allowing her to tie the knot,  Ai Ai would rather stay single than go through the trauma of marriage annulment all over again.

“Ayaw ko na magpakasal.  Kahit 2002 pa annulled ang  marriage ko (to singer Miguel Vera), ayaw ko ng pagdaanan ulit ito,”  she told a handful of writers after the prescon for her guest performance at Korean superstar Psy’s  concert at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Saturday, Feb. 16, 8 p.m.

What’s important is that her relationship with Jed Silang is going strong, despite their big age gap  between them (he’s  20 years her junior).

Bonding moments

One of Ai Ai and Jed’s bonding moments is dancing  gangnam style,  even if the latter  hasn’t gotten the hang of it the way his famous girlfriend has.

“Mali ang kaliwa niyang paa,” Ai Ai laughs.

Gangnam style also happens to be Ai Ai’s bonding moments with her children,  Sancho, Sophia and Sean Nicolo.

“Lahat kami sa bahay nagsasayaw ng gangnam,” Ai Ai reveals.

After starring in the  Metro Filmfest top grosser “Sisterkas,’ Ai Ai is excited to be back in the concert scene.  She is slated to celebrate her birthday in November with a concert.

The Kapamilya star  has her hands full this year.  She  again sits as one of the judges for the new season of the reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” and is slated to start on a soap.

“Nakapag-rest ako last year, so walang problema,” she relates.

With a four-year  guaranteed contract from  ABS-CBN (she is now on her second year), Ai Ai can now afford to relax a bit.

“Dati, no work, no pay ako,” she reveals.

She now has a cut-off time so she can rest  in-between tapings at ABS-CBN.  That’s well and good for the former comedy bar singer, who used to sleep only three hours a day to make ends meet.

“Palagi akong puyat noon. Matutulog ako ng 5 a.m. tapos magigising ng 8 a.m.,”  recalls Ai Ai.

Years of performing in smoke-filled comedy bars and music lounges have taken their  toll on Ai Ai,  who admits she  was born with weak lungs.  Ai Ai developed asthma when she gave birth to Sancho, her first born, 22  years ago.

But she’s not complaining. In fact, Ai Ai is even praying for continuous  projects.

Her prayer

“Ang dasal ko, as  long as hindi ako nagbabago,  sana huwag matapos ang blessings, ang magic.  Pwedeng batuk-batukan ako ng Diyos, pero sana, huwag Niya tanggalin ang  blessings. Kailangan pang matapos si Seth Andrei (her adopted son),” Ai Ai explains.

Ai Ai  adds that she wants to be like Madonna, who at 53, can still go on stage and perform.

“Ang pagiging artista ay bigay ng Diyos. Isa itong  gift,”  Ai Ai muses. “Marami diyan hindi mo akalaing magiging sikat pero sumisikat.”
