Earth, Wind & Fire headline two-day music festival in Singapore
Timbre Rock & Roots 2012 is back!
Come March 30-31, the annual live music festival in Singapore will again be bringing together a host of world-class musicians, headlined by funk-soul superband Earth, Wind & Fire, English 80s ska band The Specials and legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy.
English 80s ska band The Specials will kick off the two-day music festival held at the Marina Promenade on Mar 30. The six-member band shot to fame with their doom-laden single, "Ghost Town", which resonated with the people back in 1981 when Britain was facing a state of crisis.
American Grammy-award winning guitarists, singer-songwriter Keb Mo and Buddy Guy, will also be performing on the same night.
On Saturday, the music festival continues when Earth, Wind & Fire take centrestage with dance hits such as "September", "Boogie Wonderland" and the ever catchy, "Lets' Groove".
American trombone and trumpet player Trombone Shorty and his band are also invited back following their phenomenal performance at the same sold-out event last year.
Organised by local music, food and lifestyle group Timbre Group along with Bluesfest Pte Ltd, the Singapore music festival is back for the third year in a row. Last year, legendary blues icon Bob Dylan and nine-time Grammy Award winner John Legend performed to over 10,000 fans over two nights.
Co-festival director Edward Chia said this year, the layout of the festival grounds will be tweaked to cater to a larger audience without sacrificing the view of stage from most angles on the grounds.
"In the spirit of constant improvements to the festival experience, we have changed the site in ways that we are confident festival-goers will be very happy with. Along with it, this year's ticket prices are tiered lower; and all will be admitted to single general admission area," he said.
Public tickets will be on sale from Feb 13 at SISTIC . Ticket prices are from S$70 to S$140.
