Is Nancy done with acting?

Is Nancy Castiglione done with acting in front of the cameras? If not, why hasn't she been visible lately?

Answer: she's busy trying to bring back the old Supermodel days, when tall, reed-thin ladies not only had the looks, they had the class and the breeding to stand above the rest.

Nancy's new venture is called Vanity Model Management, which she put up with cousin Paul Sunga, who has worked as fashion photographer in Hong Kong for years.

"I want to bring back the days of (New York-based Filipino supermodel) Cristina Garcia and Joey Mead," Nancy said at the press presentation of her company's Eurasian models.

The models, she and Paul proclaim, can be everybody's dream girl: educated, sensible, and beautiful, of course.

"They've worked everywhere," Nancy crows like a proud mom. "And they're not just a pretty face. They have a good head above their shoulders. They're not just in it for fun."

There was one big hitch, though. The Euroasian models were scared to go to Manila — at first.

Fool-proof solution

Paul had a ready, fool-proof solution. He brought them to Boracay and said, "Know what? You can model here too."

One look at the beautiful beaches of Boracay and the girls were convinced.

Now, Nancy and Paul have big plans for them. They plan to promote their models in various countries, thanks to the cousins' wide network.

Nancy, a former commercial model herself, is getting a lot of help from her friends in the industry, some of whom she hasn't seen in the past five years. Paul's connections are just as solid.

Although the cousins are starting with Eurasian models, they hope to groom Filipinas as well. In fact, Nancy is eyeing a 14 year old, 5'9" tall stunner from Bacolod.

"We're waiting for her to mature," she relates.

Besides promoting Filipino modeling talent, the cousins dream of pushing Pinoy couture as well.

Promoting Pinoy designers

"We're promoting Pinoy designers at the upcoming Philippine Fashion Week in Hong Kong," Paul beams.

So wonder no more why Nancy has been scarce in the showbiz scene lately (although she still has Arnold Vegafria as manager for possible projects in the biz).

Nancy can't stop talking about her new modeling agency and how it makes her feel like she's come full circle.

"I'm glad to have this opportunity while I'm still young," she gushes. "This is something new for me."

The flexible schedule allows her to weave in her tasks as mother and wife into her new role as entrepreneur.

"I've always loved the idea of being in the modeling industry," Nancy reveals.

Her eyes dance, a smile lights up her face. And you know she's in her element.

Nancy the businesswoman is off to a good start.
