The poster of stand-up comedian Ate Gay was said to have caught the attention of Jennifer Lopez when she entered the Mall of Asia Arena for her scheduled performance on Monday night.

The poster for Ate Gay's Nov. 30 concert at the Arena shows the comedian dressed as Marilyn Monroe.

"Who is that?" JLo was said to have asked.

To which someone quipped, "He's the Gangnam of the Philippines!"

The 'Call Me Beky' concert

Joed Serrano of That's Ntertainment Productions, promoter of Ate Gay's show, recalled the incident.

He also said that ticket sales have been good to the grandly billed "Ako Naman!!! Ate Gay Sa Arena: The Call Me Beky Concert."

"Surprisingly, overwhelming ang demand for VIP tickets na nauna pang napuno kaysa sa General Admission," Serrano happily noted, relieved that the fear of losing ticket buyers to a prominent international act was unfounded.

Ate Gay himself said, "Hindi po yung pagkanta ko ang hinahabol nila kaya I'm not worried mawala ang boses ko," said Ate Gay, referring both to JLo and to how Regine Velasquez lost her voice during the latter's 25th anniversary concert.

Ate Gay with the real Ate Guy

The comedian, who has been called the Mash-Up Queen for his skill at mixing up various tunes and lyrics, has a stellar lineup of guests. It includes The CompanY, Aegis, Anton Diva, Allan K and Aiza Seguerra, along with John Lapus and the SexBomb Girls.

But his biggest guest is the real inspiration behind his stage name: the Superstar herself, Nora Aunor a.k.a Ate Guy.

Gil Morales in real life, Ate Gay first caught the attention of 80s star Snooky Serna who was impressed by his Nora Aunor-like voice. It took time for Morales to come up with his stage name. But since then, he has moved from comedy clubs to the concert stage and is due to release an album from which a first recently launched video "The Door" was taken.
