World goes crazy over PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’
The K-Pop community is reveling in the worldwide success of PSY's "Gangnam Style."
PSY is a well-respected singer-rapper from YG Entertainment, the same management of K-Pop superstars Big Bang and 2NE1.
After two years of absence, PSY returns with a wonderful track filled with his signature humor and unforgettable antics. As of this writing, "Gangnam Style" already amassed more than 32 million views on YouTube. Due to its viral following, "Gangnam Style" debuted in the Billboard Social 50 at No. 25.
Josh Groban: 'Amazing'
The MV for "Gangnam Style" is so irreverent, it got the attention of other artists around the world including Josh Groban, Robbie Williams and T-Pain.
Popular pop-opera singer Josh Groban tweeted, "It's a Gangnam Style world, we're just living in it. Amazing video," while British pop star Robbie Williams shared the video to his fans along with a dare: "P.S. TRY WATCHING THIS AND NOT SMILING I DARE YOU…(NOT EVEN A LIP CURL)."
In the U.S., rapper T-Pain expressed his admiration for "Gangnam Style" by tweeting: "Words cannot even describe how amazing this video is…"
The success of PSY's "Gangnam Style" is not a surprise to K-Pop fans who acknowledge PSY as one of the most creative musicians in the industry. His cheeky style brings out smiles to whoever watches his performances.
What is more awesome about "Gangnam Style" is that it features Korea's national MC Yoo Jae Suk ("Running Man"), the beautiful Hyuna from 4Minute, and labelmates Daesung and Seungri from Big Bang.
Meeting the Beebs' manager?
The viral success of "Gangnam Style" has opened Hollywood doors for PSY as there are reports that he has left Korea to meet with Justin Bieber's talent manager.
To fuel the viral flame, PSY uploaded a follow-up "Gangnam Style" video. This time, Hyuna of 4Minute sings with PSY. The new video generated mixed reviews with some loving it while others expressing negative reviews for Hyuna's "cute" singing style.
