Super Junior’s Kangin completes military service

Hallyu idol group Super Junior may have lost a member to Korea's mandatory military service when Kim Heechul enlisted on September 1, 2011, but fellow Super Junior member Kim Young-woon, better known by his stage name Kangin, completed his military service on April 16, 2012, and stepped immediately back into the spotlight as he was greeted by hundreds of fans and six of the ten members of Super Junior.

Kangin, whose distinctive voice and bubbly on-stage personality was at times overshadowed by his occasional run-in's with the law due to drunk driving and aggressive behavior, was welcomed by Super Junior's Leeteuk, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Sungmin, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun as he stepped out of the military camp's gates onto a waiting stage where press representatives from all over Korea waited to ask the singer about his military service experiences and future plans. The 27-year-old singer was also greeted with a cake topped with an image of him in military fatigues. On the cake, the fans inscribed the words "No.1 KANGIN."

SM Entertainment has remained mum on whether or not Kangin would return to perform with Super Junior, although the robust singer has been a member of two Super Junior sub-units, Super Junior Happy and Super Junior-T. Super Junior fans are certainly ready and waiting for Kangin's comeback activities.
