Girls’ Generation begins US promo tour for ‘The Boys’

Hallyu stars Girls' Generation are bringing the boys out in another continent, so to speak.

Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Yuri, and Yoona started their American promotions for "The Boys," the girls' first American single, with live stage performances on popular evening talk show "Late Night With David Letterman" and "Live! With Kelly," hosted by morning show icon Kelly Ripa. Initial promotions for "The Boys," ranked 2nd on Billboard's World Albums chart. It also placed 22nd on Billboard's broader Heatseekers Album chart a list which is reserved for acts who have yet to land an album in the top 100 of its overall Billboard 200 albums chart.

Girls' Generation's appearance on "Late Night With David Letterman," which also featured legendary American actor Bill Murray and television personality Regis Philbin, was met with mixed emotions by netizens. While many SONEs, Girls' Generation fans, were clearly overwhelmed by the historic implications of their idols' first appearance on a nationally televised American television show, several acknowledged the shortcomings of the live stage which included Letterman's typically tiny stage and sketchy camera angles that didn't exactly showcase the best angles of the girls. From my observation, the camera directors' favorite targets were Taeyeon, Sooyoung, and Sunny.

Social networks went into overdrive soon after the girls' performances of "The Boys," as the title track and "Girls' Generation" became popular trending topics in the USA.

Seems like the girls are off to a great start.
