Boyfriend earns YouTube honors for “Don’t Touch My Girl”

Rookie Korean idol group Boyfriend has achieved something most debuting boy bands dream of: YouTube fame with more than 1,600,000 views since the October 5 launch of the MV of its sophomore single, "Don't Touch My Girl!"

Youngmin, Kwangmin, Minwoo, Donghyun, Hyunseong, and Jeongmin have earned almost 30 YouTube honors from both their native South Korea as well as the international scene. They bagged the title of "Most Discussed", "Top Favorited", "Top Rates", and "Most Viewed". These registered for both South Korea and the larger "Music" category. This is no small feat for a six-member idol group whose previous claim to fame was boasting of a set of twins in its roster--Youngmin and Kwangmin.

In addition to the enviable YouTube count of the "Don't Touch My Girl" MV, Boyfriend, who counts girl group SISTAR and respected singer K. Will as labelmates on Starship Entertainment, has another particularly juicy statistic to be proud of--most of the viewers are females between the ages of 13 to 34.

To ensure top reaction to "Don't Touch My Girl," Boyfriend also prepared a special fan service. Of the numerous copies of the single album, "Don't Touch My Girl," 700 contained exclusive "gold CDs" which would give the CD holder access to a special "by-gold-CD-invitation-only" fan meeting to be announced later in the year. Pictures of the boys holding and playing with the gold CDs on their official fan cafe took fans by surprise, and a significant increase in the YouTube views of "Don't Touch My Girl" was inevitable.

Boyfriend reminds me a lot of SHINee. Do you agree? What do you think of Boyfriend?
