Who dated who at Star Magic Ball 2013
As expected, ABS-CBN talents came in their glamorous best at the annual Star Magic Ball, which carried a black, white and champagne theme, at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City on Saturday, September 7.
New and long-time couples, friendly dates and solo stars walked the red carpet and posed for the cameras.
Love teams
Among the love teams who went on dates were “Muling Buksan ang Puso” co-stars Enrique Gil and Julia Montes; “Got to Believe” tandem Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla; long-time onscreen pair Xian Lim and Kim Chiu; “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” stars Empress Schuck and Joseph Marco; “Aryana” stars Ella Cruz and Francis Magundayao and former love team Melissa Ricks and Matt Evans.
Kathryn and Daniel was the Couple of the Night, while Kim and Xian were declared the ‘Fab Pair.’ Empress and Joseph won the Stars of the Night award.
Spotted as each other’s friendly dates were Enchong Dee and Dominique Cojuangco and Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto.
Going solo
Many celebrities went stag. Among them were Matteo Guidicelli, who went with his friend Ivan Carapiet; Jake Cuenca, who wanted “to have a date after the event” and Sam Milby and Jessy Mendiola, who both decided to go solo.
Other ‘dateless’ stars were Coco Martin, Jericho Rosales, Rayver Cruz, Paulo Avelino, Ejay Falcon, JC de Vera, Martin del Rosario, Ryan Bang, Jason Gainza, Joem Bascon, Neil Coleta, Jason Abalos, Gretchen Barretto, Pokwang, Erich Gonzales, Nikki Gil, Julia Barretto, Bangs Garcia, Dimples Romana, Yeng Constantino, Jewel Mische, G Toengi, Tippy dos Santos, Bianca Manalo, Miles Ocampo, Alex Gonzaga, Rica Peralejo and Nikki Valdez.
Rumored, new and long-time couples
Real-life sweethearts Gerald Anderson and girlfriend Maja Salvador got the Best Dressed award. Another couple, Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz, who walked the red carpet separately last year, stayed close to each other. But they eluded the press again.
Sam Concepcion brought rumored girlfriend Jasmine Curtis.
Rumored sweethearts Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao walked after each other at the red carpet.
Couples who walked the red carpet together were sweethearts Zanjoe Marudo and Bea Alonzo; Iya Villania and Drew Arellano and Kaye Abad and Guji Lorenzana. Husband-and-wife team Kristine Hermosa and Oyo Sotto and Richard Poon and Maricar Reyes were also there. Dina Bonnevie and Dawn Zulueta came with their respective husbands.
While the Star Magic Ball had been a hot topic in previous years, this year’s edition went smoothly as the stars partied the night away. The Saturday event was different from the previous year’s ball, which had a sit-down dinner and cotillions.
This year, stars sat on the chairs in preparation for international designer Michael Cinco’s fashion show.
Diether Ocampo, one of Star Magic’s pioneer talents, was not able to attend the ball but gave his message through a letter read by host Robi Domingo. Diether acknowledged fellow Star Magic artists who have been bringing pride and honor to ABS-CBN’s talent arm.
He mentioned in his letter that comedienne Melai Cantiveros will soon be “Mrs. Jason Francisco (the soon-to-be-father has proposed to Melai).”
Comedian Jason Gainza confirmed that Melai is pregnant.
Martin Nievera hosted the event, while Yeng Constantino performed a song number.
