'Wahlburgers' to expand across the US

Wahlberg brothers Mark and Donnie have announced plans to take their burger joint in Massachusetts national and open up more outlets across the US.

Less than a year after opening their first location in Hingham, the brothers, along with their chef sibling Paul, said they plan to open more Wahlburgers outlets across the US, starting with Boston.

The family also runs fine dining waterfront Italian eatery Alma Nove, named after their mother and her nine children.

Burgers at the Wahlberg eatery are made from a blend of chuck brisket, short rib and can be topped with blue cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, homemade pickles and onions, sautéed mushrooms, avocado and chili.

Other sandwich options include turkey, Portobello mushroom and salmon burgers as well as hot dogs and frappes.

Meanwhile, the Wahlbergs join a string of stars who've added the title of restaurateur to their repertoire. Other celebrities who've recently opened eateries include rocker Jon Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga and Gene Simmons who has lent his name to a chain dubbed Rock & Brews Beer Garden.
