Stand-up comedian now TV host Vice Ganda has always been open and vocal about his sexuality.
Case in point: when someone asked him if he ever thought of having a relationship with a woman, Vice grimaced and enumerated the things that make him happy—money, shopping and BOYS!
Would he pay for an intimate moment with Derek Ramsay? , “I want Derek,” he replied with alacrity. “Kung tatanggap siya ng pera, itodo ko na.” He was joking, of course, because Derek is a friend he respects.
But Vice is also known for speaking his mind on issues that he strongly believes in.
Outspoken
In a recent press conference announcing the renewal of his Globe endorsement contract, he said that although he remains thankful for the blessings that continue to come his way, a few things irk him beyond the controversies that come bundled with showbiz.
“Marami kasi bulok na sistema sa showbiz,” he said. “Like most of the time, talents are made to wait for hours before they could do their scenes.”
For being outspoken and vocal, Vice has developed a “maldita” image not incompatible with being likeable, spontaneously witty and intelligent. This is the key to his success.
New movie ‘ibang-iba’
In addition to his two TV shows on ABS-CBN—“Showtime,” where he is the “unevictable judge” and “Gandang Gabi, Vice,” which has been extended due to overwhelmingly high ratings—Vice will soon be seen on the big screen in “Private Benjamin,” produced by Viva Films, the same outfit behind his hit 2010 movie “Petrang Kabayo.”
Vice promises that his new movie will be different from the first. “This is will be a laugh trip na ibang-iba,” he said.
What does he think accounts for his success now? “Everyone is unique but panahon ko kasi ngayon!”
Vice, together with K Brosas and Jon Avila, has just returned from four successful shows in California: two in Anaheim and one each in San Diego and San Francisco.
