Vic comments on Pauleen's new house

Vic Sotto’s comeback  project for the Kapuso network sees him playing an unusual role — that of the half-mortal son of a 300-year-old vampire, played by his real-life son Oyo Sotto.

Vic said he still finds it strange and awkward calling Oyo  “Tatay,” even if just on cam.

Just like his latest onscreen personality, Vic is not your traditional real-life father of four. He treats his children as “Dabarkads”  (slang for barkada, which noontime show “Eat Bulaga”  popularized).

“Kung magkwentuhan kami, kung mag usap kami, hindi, ‘Ako tatay dito, ako lang magsasalita.’ Kasi ganun ang kinalakihan ko noon, e. Hindi ka pwede basta-bastang magsasalita. May panahon kung kailangan ka dapat sumali sa usapan. Ako, binago ko yun sa akin mga anak. Kung magusap kami, parang magkakaibigan lang,” Vic said during the press conference for his upcoming sitcom “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko.”

The ace comedian said his children respect his personal affairs, including his love life.

“Hindi ko naman ugali na nangingialam sa personal na buhay ng mga anak ko. So kung ano binibigay mo, yun din ang binibigay sayo. Andun yung respeto,” Vic said.

“Ngayon naman, wala namang seryosong bagay na kailangang pag-usapan.”

Is he open to working with his children and current flame Pauleen Luna? Vic said that while the concept of his projects comes before its cast, he isn’t completely opposed to the idea.

“Bakit hindi? Wala namang masama. Wala namang problema sa isa’t isa, e,” he said.

An entertainment magazine recently featured Pauleen’s newly-constructed house. In the magazine feature, the Kapuso actress dispelled talks that Vic helped financially in building the house.

The “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko”  star confirmed Pauleen’s statement.

“Nakakahiya naman sa mga magulang ni Pauleen. Wala akong kinalaman dun,” he said.

Vic further said, “Yun e, matagal na nilang pinagagawa yun. Yung magulang niya, siya. They’re very proud. Hindi naman maganda kung idaramay ako doon. Nadidiscredit sila sa pinagpaguran nila.”

Why didn’t Vic cast Pauleen in “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko”?

“Not really kasi she’s more on the telenovela e. Baka magkaroon ng conflict sa mga ginagawa niya kung biglang isali mo sa isang show na supporting role,” he explained.

“Vampire Ang Daddy Ko” premieres  Saturday, March 9 after “Kap’s Amazing Stories” on GMA-7.
