Tyson Beckford fears the current generation hasn’t "invented cool stuff".
The American model has been working for over 20 years, with his first big job with Ralph Lauren in 1993. Since then he's teamed up with the likes of Calvin Klein and Gucci and while he still loves the job, he fears it's not as fresh as it used to be.
"If you shoot for as many years as I have, what haven’t I done? It’s hard, man. We repeat it. It’s like that in movies and music, too. This generation is not the generation that invented cool stuff," he explained.
The star has noticed some other changes within the industry too. Although he will always be fond of modelling, Tyson thinks there is something lacking in the industry at the moment.
"The new ones these days don’t have much of a back story, unlike those in the supermodel era. You saw them and said: 'Man, I want to hang out with that girl.' I don’t think we have that now. They’re like factory produced – everyone’s almost the same," he said.
The 42-year-old star is renowned for his rippling physique. Although he has a washboard stomach and toned arms and legs, he insists the gym isn't for him. Instead he exercises for around an hour a day outside, favouring boxing and cycling to weights.
Tyson's sultry looks have won him legions of fans around the world. He is currently dating Victoria's Secret model Shanina Shaik, but is happy to discuss what he looks for in ladies.
"Legs and butt. Toned is always the best but not too muscular. You can tell when a woman takes pride in how she looks because her legs are always toned," he told Fabulous magazine.
"I date everything. There’s no type or colour, but they’ve got to have a personality. You’ve got to have a sense of humour. I don’t take anything too seriously, you just can’t."
Tyson has been spending a lot of time in the UK recently as he is a judge a TV show. He has noticed some characteristics about British girls, which he thinks come from their dining habits.
"There are a lot of curves here in Britain. You guys eat pie, mash and a lot of potatoes!" he laughed. "I ride a motorcycle and a guy on a bike likes curves. You don’t want to just ride down a straight road, that gets boring. You like curves and apexes. I’m big on curves."© Cover Media
