Twitter index: Tweeps welcome February and talk about Valentine’s Day plans

Valentine's Day: women want flowers, men want sex

Microbloggers are marking the start of the new month with “Hi February” and “Bye January” posts.

“Hi February please be nice. sincerely, me” post Tweeps among a chorus of February-based tweets that reference upcoming events, plans, hopes and goals people wish to achieve over the next 29 days.

Spanish-speaking Twitter users are also talking about February with the term “Bienvenido Febrero” (which roughly translates to “Welcome to February”).

Tweeps have made a head start on plans for Valentine’s Day this year and are sharing their romantic (or unromantic) itineraries with their followers.

“Got the busiest Valentines day planned like ever ! watching films with my cat,” tweeted one lucky microblogger. Others said their day would be filled with “Nutella, loads of chocolate, sad film, tissues and white hot chocolate” and “my one and true love .... FOOD.”

Microbloggers are joking around and wishing One Direction band member Harry Styles a happy birthday with the number one hashtag and fourth-place phrase “Happy Birthday Hazza” on Twitter.

“#ThingsThatGetMeUpset,” “#YouKnowYouHigh,” “Page 32 of 366” and “Beyond SEXY” follow in second, third, eighth and ninth positions.
