Twitter index: Douglas Adams, Jordan Jansen, Brandon Knight

On Monday, March 11, Twitter users are celebrating the birthdays of English writer Douglas Adams and internet celebrity and singer Jordan Jansen, while others are talking about DeAndre Jordan and his dunk against Brandon Knight.

March 11 marks what would have been the 61st birthday of cult science-fiction writer, dramatist and environmental activist Douglas Adams, who is best remembered for "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy," which began life in 1978 as a radio drama on BBC Radio 4, before developing into a series of books and later comics and, in 2005, a film. Adams was born March 11, 1952, and died on May 11, 2001, aged just 49 years old. His birthday is being marked around the world by fans and admirers of his work. Even Google is getting in on the celebrations by producing a spaceship-themed Google Doodle in tribute to the writer.

Internet celebrity and singing sensation Jordan Jansen is also celebrating his birthday today. The Australian singer, who rose to fame through YouTube, turned 15 today, sparking two trending topics; fourth-placed "#HappyBirthdayJordanJansen" and second-placed "#FollowMeJordanJansen."

Also causing a buzz is a basketball player for the Detroit Pistons, Brandon Knight. The point guard was knocked to the floor on Sunday night while trying to stop a dunk by Los Angeles Clippers' center DeAndre Jordan. Basketball blogs have been quick to pick up on Knight's knock down and images of the player lying on the floor quickly began an internet meme. The Clippers went on to win the game 129-97.
