TV5 exec: All’s well with Sharon, Kapatid network

Sharon Cuneta fans, rejoice. The Kapatid network is cooking up a new show for her to replace the talk show “Sharon, Kasama Mo, Kapatid.”

The show was unceremoniously cancelled last January, after it was aired for more than six months. It coincided with Willie Revillame’s noontime slot via “Wowowillie.” Because of this, rumors surfaced that Sharon is sending feelers to express her desire to return to ABS-CBN, her former home network.

TV5 First VP for Creative and Entertainment Production Perci Intalan admitted there was a bit of miscommunication between the network and Sharon’s management regarding the fate of her show. But the network has already apologized.

“Naunahan lang na nakita si Willie na nagpupunta sa Delta (Theater). Napangunahan lang. And then we cleared the air, we explained everything,” Intalan told members of the press at the launch of their upcoming talent show “Kanta Pilipinas” on Monday, February 4.

“It would have been communicated to her if we had the chance.”

“We’re waiting for Sharon to come back para ma-discuss which one she wants to do first or baka she has other ideas,” the executive added.

Intalan dismissed reports that Sharon wants to return to the Kapamilya network.

“Nakarating sa amin yun (the rumors). To be fair, pero si Sharon Cuneta na siya. Ayokong maniwala na siya yung nagpaparamdam. Any network would want to work with Sharon,” he said. “I think it’s unfair na hayaan naming kumalat yung tsismis na siya yung nagpaparamdam.”

He added, “She’s been very vocal. Alam kong there are people that she’s still very close to there, pero hindi ko alam kung saan nanggagaling yung tsismis na she wants to go back.”

The cancellation of Sharon’s show had nothing to do with bad ratings or her then-frequent spats on social networking site Twitter, Intalan explained.

“We’re not closing our doors on doing another season of the show. Nakita rin naming magandang style yun e, yung tumitigil muna tapos bumabalik,” he said of “Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid.”

The network will meet with Sharon regarding her next project soon.

“Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid” is her first regular show with the Kapatid network.

Nora remains in soap

“Wowowillie” and the consequent change in  afternoon programming for the network signal an exciting change for TV5, which was until then, tentative in facing heavyweights “Eat Bulaga” and“It’s Showtime.” The change, also gave the network space to restructure primetime offerings.

“Yung pagdating ni Willie sa noontime, parang pagdating lang din namin sa broadcast industry,” Intalan said.

With Willie back to his noontime roots, the Kapatid network gambles with Nora Aunor’s “Never Say Goodbye,” which will premiere this month.

Addressing reports that Nora will be removed from the upcoming show for health reasons, Intalan said: “We had to tweak (the show) in such a way na kaya naming mag-continue ng taping even if may sakit si Ate Guy.”

Reports have it that Nora stopped taping for the show for a few days due to poor health.

“She needed to rest. Pero dahil soap ito, hindi ka naman makakatigil ng basta-basta. So we decided to do something about it,” the TV5 exec explained, adding that they inserted “flashback scenes” into the story to give Nora enough time to rest without removing her from the show.

But definitely, Nora stays as part of TV5’s upcoming soap opera.

The network is already planning its next move to beef up  primetime programming.

“Pinaplano na rin pero baby steps na rin. Now ‘Kidlat,’tapos nagdagdag ng isa pang soap. Yung pangatlong soap, hindi pa namin alam kung soap or reality,” Intalan said.
