    Tech agenda: internet trends and startups at LeWeb

    Now in its seventh year, LeWeb is going from strength to strength. The European conference will welcome a high-profile list of speakers from the technology and internet industries who will discuss the ongoing shift from PC-based computing to social-local-mobile.

    LeWeb is the biggest internet event in the European calendar, bringing together speakers, entrepreneurs, investors, the media, and technology buffs to discuss a "new web." Approximately 3,000 participants from 60 countries are expected to attend the seventh edition of LeWeb in Paris in 2011. Industry luminaries including Google’s Eric E.Schmidt and Marissa Mayer, Milk’s Kevin Rose, Path’s Dave Morin, Instagram’s Kevin Systrom, Microsoft’s Chris Capossela, Facebook’s Joanna Shields, Flipboard’s Mike McCue, Evernote’s Phil Libin, and Airbnb’s Brian Chesky will be on stage to lead discussions about this year's theme, Social-Local-Mobile.

    The International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH) is a four-day event that digs deep into the world of computer graphics, 3D modeling and digital imaging. The latest gadgets, hardware, software and technology will be presented alongside SIGGRAPH Asia's computer animation festival, a symposium on mobile apps, art exhibitions, hands on courses, and presentations of cutting-edge technical and research papers. SIGGRAPH Asia is the sister event to the much bigger international SIGGRAPH (which will be held in Los Angeles in August 2012); in 2010 SIGGRAPH Asia attracted more than 9,200 visitors from 47 countries while the 2011 edition of SIGGRAPH drew 15,800 visitors.

    The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest consumer technology trade show. It is also one of the most closely followed events on the technology calendar -- alongside CeBIT and Computex Taipei -- as it welcomes numerous high-profile technology companies and is the launch-place for many groundbreaking new gadgets and high-tech products. 2,700 exhibitors will be at CES in 2012. CES is expected to attract around 140,000 visitors this year and is a "must-see" event for technology enthusiasts.

    Macworld | iWorld 2012

    California-based Apple-centric conference and expo Macworld will be re-branded as Macworld | iWorld in 2012 to signify the gradual shift away from desktop Macintosh computers and towards i-devices and iOS applications. Founded in 1985, the Macworld Conference and Expo is the largest annual Apple Macintosh event in the world. In 2011 Macworld attracted close to 25,000 attendees, making it much larger than Apple's own annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is capped at around 5,000 places. Organizers also launched a successful Asian version of the conference in September 2011 which attracted an estimated 200,000 people.
