Stream Air's new LP 'Le Voyage Dans La Lune'

French electro duo Air releases new LP Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip to the Moon) on February 6 in the UK/Europe and February 7 in North America via Astralwerks. As of Thursday, you can stream the album at NPR.org ahead of its release.

Nicolas Godin and JB Dunckel of Air (The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette) were commissioned to compose an original soundtrack for the 14-minute silent film of the same name, created in 1902 by French pioneer filmmaker Georges Méliès. They expanded the project into a full album with 11 tracks and vocal contributions by Au Revoir Simone and Victoria Legrand of Beach House.

A restored version of the film, featuring the score by Air, was premiered in 2011 at the Cannes Film Festival, and an excerpt was also featured in Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated film Hugo.

"A Trip to the Moon is undoubtedly more organic than most of our past projects. We wanted it to sound 'handmade,' knocked together,' a bit like Méliès' special effects. Everything is played live ... like Méliès' film, our soundtrack is nourished by living art," Air's Godin explained in a press release.
