Bb.Pilipinas Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup feels pressured about following in the footsteps of her predecessor, Venus Raj, who emerged fourth runner-up in last year’s Miss Universe pageant.

Shamcey is leaving the country today for Sao Paolo, Brazil, where she will compete in the Miss Universe pageant.

“Syempre may pressure din. But, ginagamit ko na lang sya in a positive way. Sinasabi lang nya na ‘Just be yourself. Enjoy everything there because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. At kung nahihirapan ka na, isipin mo na you’re there because you wanted to be there. It was a choice,’” Shamcey said in an interview with “The Buzz.”

She added that she has undergone a lot of training, training, including walking and catwalking with other beauty queens, Venus included.

Despite the pressure, Shamcey remains confident and hopeful since Venus gives her pieces of advice.
“Sa akin, it’s more on mental and emotional preparations. Kase maraming nagsasabi na sa Miss Universe, there are lots of beautiful girls, intelligent girls,” Shamcey said.

The General Santos beauty added that she needs to work on her self-confidence to stand out among other beautiful women from other countries. “How will you stand out? So, dapat you need to have that self-confidence,” Shamcey said.

Challenges

Shamcey also talked about her expectations and feelings as she goes to Brazil alone for her pre-pageant preparations. “Minsan nakakatakot kasi ako lang mag-isa na pupunta doon, wala akong kasama. Ang layo, parang opposite side of the world ako pupunta. More than 24 hours ang byahe at ako lang, lahat ng bagahe ko ako ang magdadala,” Shamcey  revealed.

If most contestants bring lucky charms with them, our country’s representative considers her supporters as her lucky charm. “Ang lucky charm ko are the people who support me. Na kahit anong mangyari, andyan pa rin sila,” Shamcey said.
As early as now, reports about early pageant favorites, like beauties from Latin countries, have cropped up.

How confident is Shamcey about bringing home the crown?

“Of course, laging sinasabi, if you’re destined to win, you will get the crown. And I believe I’ve worked hard, I have the discipline, I’m determined. And with the support of everyone, I believe I have the chance,” Shamcey replied.

The Miss Universe pageant will be held on Sept. 12.
