Shaina wants Vina to go out on dates

If Shaina Magdayao would have her way, she wants her Ate Vina Morales to forget about her failed relationship to the father of her four-year-old daughter Ceana and go out and look for Mr. Right.

“Sabi niya, mag-date ka na,” Vina  said in an interview  for the restaging of the  musical Rock of Ages, where she reprises the role of Sherrie, who falls in love with a rock god  (played by Mig Ayesa, who has returned to the Philippines from New York for the play, which is set July 12 to 28 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati).

Vina doesn’t mind. Except that she still has to fight inner demons first.

More careful

“Natatakot pa rin ako pero alam kong hindi dapat yon. I’m more careful this time. Kailangang pag-isipan ko muna kung ito bang guy na dinedate ko is the guy for me. Pero hindi mo talaga masasabi kung siya ang para sa ‘yo.”

Yes, Vina’s past still haunts her. But she’s trying her best to get over it. After all, she doesn’t want to grow old alone, and is even thinking of having two more children.

“Gusto kong may kasama naman ako habang buhay. Yon ang parati kong pine-pray. I want someone who will be a good dad to my daughter and my future kids.”

Vina knows that she might not get what she prays for.

“Wish lang 'yon. Libre naman mangarap. So nangagarap ako ng marami.”

Still, she realizes that no matter how hard she tries, fate sometimes plays tricks on the best of us.

“I have to go out and meet people because I won’t meet someone kung nasa bahay lang ako. Pero kung nasa bahay lang naman ako at kung may ibibigay sa akin, mangyayari 'yon.”

Fearless forecast

Hope springs eternal, though. And this single mom has a fearless forecast.

“Nararamdaman ko I’m gonna settle down soon.”

There’s a hint of a giggle in her voice, a sparkle in her eyes. This will surely make Shaina happy.
