Sam shares 'amazing experience' in Cannes

Sam Milby feels honored to have  represented the Philippines at the 66th Cannes Film Festival for the war movie "Death March."

The Kapamilya actor even  walked down the red carpet alongside the film’s director,  Adolf Alix, Jr., Jacky Woo, and Evelyn Vargas.

"Ang saya sobra. Two full days lang ako doon. Malayo ang East France pero sobrang saya. Yung red carpet namin, amazing experience," Sam told reporters during the pictorial of "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" at the ABS-CBN compound on Wednesday, May 22.

Sam proudly shared the audience’s reaction to the film: "We got good reactions afterwards. To be a part of it is a huge thing talaga."

His co-stars Zanjoe Marudo, Carlo Aquino, Sid Lucero, Jason Abalos and Felix Roco weren't able to attend the festival.

Sam added: "I didn't get a chance to find out yung reviews ng critics. It's an artistic way of doing... (showing what happened) in Bataan death march. Hindi pang-mainstream yung movie so I'm curious sa reviews ng critics."

Hollywood bigwigs

Sam was overwhelmed to see Hollywood bigwigs also walking down the red carpet.

"Kasi pagdating namin doon, si Steven Spielberg ang kaharap namin. Sayang wala akong picture. Then after that I saw Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence. It's an experience hearing your name called out. Siyempre it's worldwide press and they don't know who you are, but just to share that moment and see Steven Spielberg, one of the greatest directors of all time and have the other stars walk in front of you. Kinabukasan we had a photo call rin," Sam recalled.

"Death March," which competes in the festival's Un Certain Regard section, tells the story of thousands of Filipino and American soldiers  forced to march during World War II.
