Kapuso star Sam Pinto may have earned the ire of some fans and previous winners of the FHM Philippines Sexiest Woman title with an intriguing comment she made recently during her formal introduction to the press as this year’s victor.

“For me, natural beauty is God-given talaga. So if you have it, you can enhance it, but not really major-major enhancement, Well, it's really a big part of me, to be number one talaga. Kasi, for the last few years, sila ang nag-number one, ang daming nagpagawa. So, I guess this is something new for everyone, something fresh,” she said.

But according to Sam, she wasn't referring to anyone specific when she made the comment.

“Nung sinabi ko po yun, I was really talking about myself. Wala po akong pino-point out nun. Kasi, parang ine-emphasize ko lang na I'm super proud of my body and I'm happy and content with my body,” she told GMA-7's “Startalk TX” in a taped interview aired on Saturday, July 9.

The Pinoy Big Brother alumna is aware people found her comment “mayabang” and “cocky” and said she's open to criticism.

“Feeling ko na misinterpret lang nila as being cocky, but for me I was just telling the truth and being real. I welcome negative criticism kasi, at least, for me malalaman ko yung iba't ibang opinyon ng mga tao. I'm open to it naman talaga. Saka kung may pinagawa man sila, I'm sure they did that to make themselves more beautiful and more happy about themselves,” Sam said.

A relative newcomer to show business, Sam bested perennial favorites Marian Rivera, Cristine Reyes and Angel Locsin in this year's poll. Sam ranked number 32 in FHM Philippines' Sexist Woman of the World poll in 2010.
