Roberto Cavalli has divulged ambitious beauty projects, with his wife and label's creative director Eva Cavalli revealing makeup plans are to be explored in the coming year.

In an interview with WWD published January 27, Eva described launching a color cosmetics collection as "a dream," while Roberto suggested hair dye could even be a potential area for expansion in the future.

"I love it. Color is key for me," said the creator.

"I'd like to make many, many things with color and cosmetics -- even color for the hair."

2012 is already shaping up to be a big year for the Italian fashion house, with the imminent release of the Roberto Cavalli signature women's perfume, a new accessories line for the Class Roberto Cavalli label and a collaboration with watchmaker Franck Muller.

Although nothing has yet been confirmed for the cosmetics line, any eventual range would undoubtedly pay tribute to the designer's fondness for vibrant colors and animal prints. Other top fashion houses to have expanded their beauty portfolios in the past 12 months include Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and Tom Ford. Prabal Gurung also expressed his interest in venturing into the realm just last month.

"Beauty is an extension of a brand. That's definitely one of the goals. Being able to, let's say, have a lipstick with your name...That would be amazing!" he told Fashionista.
