Ritz hopes for more success in 2012

Ritz Azul hopes 2012 will be just as “unexpected” and fruitful as the past year.

“Para sa akin, unexpected yung nangyari nung 2011. Maraming bagay akong natanggap, mga blessings, and mga bagay na di ko ineexpect na dumating,” she said during the presscon for “Glamorosa” last Tuesday, January 10, at the Casa Filipino Restaurant in Quezon City.

Ritz added, “Feeling ko year ko nung 2011. Sana ngayong 2012, ganun din.”

A home-grown Kapatid star and a product of TV5’s 2010 reality talent show “Star Factor,” Ritz is easily one of the young network’s breakout stars last year.

In less than a year in show business, she has starred in two primetime shows (“Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak” and the ongoing “Glamorosa”) and has won two awards. Besides being named Amazing Female Newcomer at the Yahoo! OMG Awards last June, she also won the Outstanding Breakthrough Performance by an Actress award at Enpress’ Golden Screen TV Awards last November.

Pressured

Does Ritz consider the award a validation for her acting talent? According to the 18-year-old actress, she’d rather see the recognition as an encouragement rather than proof that she can act.

“Sa akin kasi, ang artista every day nagle-learn dapat,” she said. “Sa akin naman, kung nagkakaroon ka ng award, kailangang napre-pressure ka na kailangan pangatawanan mo yung award mo na kailangan mas magaling ka sa dati mong nagawa.

For 2012, Ritz hopes to become a more versatile actress.

“Gusto kong umikot yung paggaling ko sa pag-arte. Gusto kong mag-bida, mag-kontrabida, mag-comedy, mag-action. Gusto kong maging versatile talaga,” she shared.

Ritz also wants to work with Nora Aunor and new TV5 star Sharon Cuneta.

Jealous?

Is she jealous that “Star Factor” winner Eula Caballero has worked not only with Nora, but  with Maricel Soriano and, soon, David Archuleta?

“Sa akin naman, kung ano naman yung trabahong tinatanggap ko at binibigay sa akin, sobrang binibigay ko naman yung best ko and masaya ako dun,” Ritz said, adding that she’s equally happy for the big breaks Eula is getting.

“Kung sino talaga ang ibigay ng producer, masaya ako,” she added.

“Glamorosa” airs weeknights after “Wiltime Bigtime” on TV5.
