Pregnant Amy bids show temporary good-bye

“Face to Face” host Amy Perez was teary-eyed when she announced that she will take a temporary leave from the TV5 morning program because of her delicate pregnancy.

Amy is on her 13th week of pregnancy and hopes to finally fulfill her dream to have a girl by long-time partner Carlo Castillo.

“It’s gonna be hard and painful for me to take a leave sa show,” she admits. “Pero siyempre, pangarap namin ni Carlo to have a baby girl sana. If it’s a baby boy or girl we will be forever thankful.  Kasi nabigyan kami ng chance uli to have another bundle of joy kahit alam ko na it’s very difficult sa sitwasyon naming ngayon.”

The expectant mom has to be extra careful these days, since her doctor advised her to reduce her workload and be extra careful, now that she is 43 years old.

“Kailangan magbawas na ng kaunti (ng trabaho). Pati as bahay, I cannot carry my three-year-old son (Sean Kyle),” Amy reveals.

Her search for ex-husband Brix Ferraris, former vocalist of South Border, has been futile so far. Amy has long been wanting to get in touch with Brix so she can get the divorce or the annulment she’s been wishing for.

“Na-technical kami sa lower court hanggang nag-appeal na kami sa katas-taasang court. Hinahanap ko si Brix.  I heard he’s abroad at balita ko na nag-pe-perform siya don. Hindi siya pwedeng mag-perform kung TNT (tago ng tago) siya ron. So most likely maraming nagsasabi na nakapangasawa na siya ng iba.”

No reply

She reveals that Adi, her 15-year-old son by Brix, sent a message to his dad via Facebook but has yet to get a reply.

Thus, Carlo advised Amy to let things be because they have done their part.

Carlo, Amy adds, is willing to adopt Adi. So their only wish now is for Amy to get the papers that will allow Carlo to do this.

Amy says nothing will make her happier than getting the divorce or annulment papers.

“Sasagutin ko ang (gastos) ng mga mahihirap  who can’t afford an annulment para maging maligaya sila sa buhay.”

She explains that the lawyers she has consulted have taken pity on her because of her efforts to get an annulment.

Replacing Amy as “Pambansang Kapitana” on "Face to Face" is her friend and fellow Kapatid star Gelli de Belen.

“Being a referee on the show is no easy task. It requires patience, deep understanding of everyday people, and genuine care to resolve their conflict. I can see and feel that Gelli fits the bill perfectly,” observes Amy.

Gelli is Amy’s first choice to pinch-hit for her.

Advice to Gelli

Amy’s advice to Gelli is to “learn the art of leaving everything in the studio.”

“After a while, affected na siya masyado. Yon ang natutunan ko kay Carlo. Sinabi niya sa akin na pag affected na affected na ako hinihinto na niya ako. Sinasabi niyang huwag na akong magkuwento kasi masyado na akong nahihirapan,” states Amy.

The 43-year-old host says she plans to return to Face to Face after a year.

Gelli promises to make a graceful exit from the show once Amy is ready to return.

“Kahit anong sabihin nila, show pa rin ito ni Amy. I will be here just to help her out.”
