Piolo, a proud dad to son Iñigo

Piolo Pascual is proud of teenage son Iñigo for prioritizing his studies and maintaining his values.

The Kapamilya artist shared that his son who's based in the U.S. is a campus heartthrob. But he doesn’t let girls derail him from his studies and extra-curricular activities.

“Maraming mga babae sa States. Alam mo naman medyo aggressive mga tao doon. So nakakatuwa naman since he studies in a Christian school, ang focus niya pag-aaral muna, nag-so-soccer siya, theater arts, kasama siya sa musical ng school nila so madami siyang diversions. Buti na nga lang medyo involved siya sa extra-curricular (activities),” Piolo said at the press conference of his new teleserye “Apoy sa Dagat.”

Piolo adds that his son tries to parry his female classmates’ “advances.”

“Siya mismo nagsasabi na kapag may gumagawa ng mga advances galing sa mga kaklase niya, bata talaga, siya rin yung natatakot. Siya rin yung umiiwas.”

Spending quality time

While Piolo insists he is not a strict dad, he still wants his son to be properly guided. He wants Iñigo to learn on his own.

“Ayaw ko naman na maging ignorante yung bata, na hindi niya alam kung ano ang dapat paghandaan. So, there are things we have to go through on his own. Siyempre, bilang magulang, nakaalalay lang tayo at nagdadasal na sana hindi siya mapariwara.”

Piolo feels blessed to have celebrated Christmas and New Year with his family and relatives in the U.S. He  had an intimate family gathering for his birthday when he returned to Manila.

“First time ko nakasama anak ko ng Christmas and New Year na hindi kami naghiwalay. So sobrang blessing, kasama ko siya matulog every night. Sobra yung bonding namin so sobrang meaningful at saka memorable yung holidays ko with them.”

“Apoy sa Dagat,” Piolo’s comeback in primetime television will premiere on Feb. 4. It also stars Angelica Panganiban, Angel Aquino, Aiko Melendez, Sylvia Sanchez, Perla Bautista, Liza Lorena, Freddie Webb, Melai Cantiveros, Eric Fructuoso, Regine Angeles, Bryan Santos and Mikaila Ramirez.
