Is “Pilipinas Got Talent 2 (PGT2)” champion Marcelito Pomoy gay?  Speculations about his sexual preference cropped up because the Caviteño singer loves to sing songs of female singers.

So, pinababayaan ko na lang,” Marcelito said in a sit-down interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! before the ‘You Got It 2’ concert in Ynares Sports Arena last July 1.

Marcelito’s unusual take on singing has won him a big following since he joined PGT 2. He has proven his mastery of the female singing voice when he performed Regine Velasquez’s “On the Wings of Love.”   The performance, uploaded on YouTube got so many hits.

During his first audition, Marcelino’s rendition of Regine’s ‘Narito Ako,’ impressed judges Kris Aquino, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Freddie M. Garcia.

Confident

So confident is Marcelito of his sexuality,  he doesn’t mind singing with a female voice.

Is he a single dad? The rumor mill says he sired a son in Mindanao, but he denied the accusation.

So, with all these rumors coming, is Marcelito ready for showbiz? “Tamah!,” Marcelito said, mimicking Anne Curtis’  voice.

“Pilipinas Got Talent” first season winner Jovit Baldovino entered showbiz after winning the talent show. Will Marcelito also follow suit?

Marcelito also wants to record albums and perform in concerts someday.

Who does he like in showbiz? “Kim Chiu. Idol ko sya eh. Maganda sya tsaka mabilis humatak ng atensyon,” Marcelito said. In the future, he would also like to work with Sarah Geronimo, Martin Nievera, Angeline Quinto and Christian Bautista.

Life's struggles

Beating 13 other contenders in the finals was hard for Marcelito, but his struggles in life. At an early age, Marcelito was separated from his family and had no choice but to work for himself. He sold ice cream and worked in a factory.  Family issues also made him persevere more in reaching his dreams.

His father was jailed and his mother left him and his siblings.

Marcelito won P2 million and has been guesting in a lot of ABS-CBN shows.

What has changed since his victory?

“Marami nagbago sa buhay ko ngayon, hindi na ako nagtitinda ng suka!,” Marcelito said in jest. He is happy to see his family together more often these days.
