ONLY ON OMG! - Lorna says transfer to TV5 has nothing to do with money

It’s not about the talent fee.  It’s about maximizing her time, talent and exposure on TV.

This is what Lorna Tolentino said is the reason why she  has opted against renewing her contract with ABS-CBN and signing up for an exclusive contract with TV5 starting this October.

Lorna said the Kapatid network has offered her a contract of 140 working days, wherein she could possibly do one or two soaps, and even grace the opening of the new TV5 station in the US.

The deal is better than that which ABS offered because it will give Lorna more working days and therefore more exposure on TV.

"ABS-CBN’s offer after my teleserye 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,' which is done tonight, is only 85 working days for one year.  Sabi ko tanungin  si Sir Deo (Endrinal, ABS-CBN Business Unit Head)  kung pwedeng taasan sa 120 working days na parang dalawang teleserye yon," said Lorna.

Besides,  she doesn’t want a repeat of what happened to her in her previous contract with ABS-CBN. According to Lorna,   it  required her to do two teleseryes and two movies in a span of two years. But she only did one teleserye ('Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin') and one movie ('Sa Yo Lamang') in two years.

What happened to the other movie she was supposed to do under the contract?

"When I asked Malou (Santos, Star Cinema executive), she told me that  sorry,  she didn’t know that I had an exclusive contract in the network’s film arm (Star Cinema).  So nawala yung isang film," relates Lorna.

She admits that this is why "may hinanakit ako" towards Malou.

But Lorna has nothing to feel bad about the way ABS-CBN  Business Unit Head Deo Endrinal and ABS-CBN Channel head Cory Vidanes treated her.

"Nagpapasalamat ako kay  Sir Deo kasi sinalo nila ako sa naging contract ko," says Lorna. "Ang contract ko with him is for 65 days.  After 65 days, per day na ang bayad ko."

Still, Lorna wants to make it clear she doesn’t want to have any bad blood between her and ABS-CBN, in the same way that she was in good terms with GMA 7 when she transferred to ABS-CBN .

Under TV5, Lorna is slated to do "Glamorosa," a drama about sibling rivalry that also stars Alice Dixson.

Lorna also wants to do a light drama ala "Pusong Mamon" to serve as a break from the heavy acting she will do in "Glamorosa."

She also wants to steer clear from the network war, which her transfer to TV5 might create.

"Senior actors should not be part of the network wars anymore," she observes.  "Let’s leave it to the younger ones."
