No CCTV footage of Santiago-Tulfo brawl

NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) General manager Angel Honrado admitted there was no CCTV in the carousel area that could have captured the brawl that happened between broadcaster and newspaper columnist Mon Tulfo and Raymart Santiago after the latter’s wife, Claudine Barretto  berated a Cebu Pacific ground stewardess for her lost baggage.

Honrado admitted this on Monday, May 7 in Ted Failon’s dzMM program Failon Ngayon while Mon Tulfo was on the other line.

Fortunately, a cellphone footage came out on Facebook and YouTube. The 59-second video cleared up a lot of confusion yet added more questions about what happened.

On TV Patrol Sunday night, Claudine claimed Tulfo threatened them saying “hindi niyo kilala kinakalaban niyo, matakot kayo,” while Raymart said Tulfo threw the first punch and that he didn’t even get to touch the columnist’s phone, the one that was used to take photos of Claudine berating a ground stewardess for the baggage that got lost in Caticlan (the Santiagos came from Boracay).

But footage of the quick yet explosive brawl showed it was Tulfo who took a beating.

On Failon Ngayon, Tulfo said he saw a woman  he described as matronly-looking and with a pretty face, complaining to the ground stewardess about her baggage.

'Call Gokongwei'

“Tapos narinig ko pinapatawag nya si Gokongwei (Lance Gokongwei is president of Cebu Pacific) sa ground stewardess,” Tulfo added.

This was when he started taking photos and the fistfight began.

A judo black belter, Tulfo claimed that kicking Claudine when he fell was instinctive. He also said that it was Raymart who assaulted him, as shown in the video.

“Siya (Raymart) ang suntok ng suntok. Nasasakal na ako, ba’t nangyari yon may guard at pulis na?”

Complaint vs airport staff

He also complained to GM Honrado of how the airport security was “inutil,” unable to neither pacify nor protect both parties.

“Noong dinadala sa presinto ng pulis, pilit nilang kinukuha ang celfone ko. Hndi sila umawat noong minumura ako ni Claudine, he explains.

“Naitadhana siguro na ako ang naging biktima para ma-expose pagkainutil ng NAIA management,” he also told Ted.

While Raymart claims the video was taken after Tulfo kicked Claudine, there’s still no footage showing that alleged first half of the brawl.

Tulfo told Ted he is on his way to the Prosecutor’s Office to file charges while the Santiago couple will reportedly take legal action against the broadcaster- columnist.
