Ai Ai de las Alas has echoed Vic Sotto's statement that their relationship was not affected by her decision to star in Star Cinema and Viva Film's "Sisteraka" instead of his entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
"Alam ninyo naman maka-Bossing ako kaso lang 'yung technicalities lang talaga ng kontrata ko, 'yun ang naging problema at hindi dahil sa talent fee. Hindi na ako talaga pinayagan kasi nga technically, akala nila may kontrata pa ako pero sa totoo lang, wala na.
"Alam nila Bossing 'yan so tinanggap ko 'yun. Kaso lang hindi na nila ako pinayagan nang nalaman nilang gagawa pa ako with Bossing," explained Ai Ai.
Recall that Ai Ai was in "Enteng ng Ina Mo," Vic Sotto's entry in the 2011 MMFF that grossed more than R237 million. It's the most successful "Enteng Kabisote" film so far in terms of revenue. Ai Ai was offered to do a sequel this year but she had no choice but to turn it down.
Ai Ai's close friend, confidante, and co-star in "Sisterakas," Kris Aquino, was also instrumental in convincing her to do their film.
"'Friendship, hindi ko na talaga kaya. I'll die,' Kris told me. 'Tell them na lang you don't want me to die,' sabi ng lola. 'Okay, sige, ayaw kitang mamatay,' sabi ko naman..." Ai Ai recounted.
How did she break the news to Vic?
"Sabi ko, 'Bossing, alam mo naman, mabait na sundalo ako. Inutusan nila ako na gawin ito so hindi naman ako katulad mo na kasing-yaman mo na anytime na ikaw ang mag-produce, oo ka lang or hindi. Ako, oo lang ng oo siyempre..."'
In a separate interview, Vic said that he completely understands Ai Ai's explanation.
"Mainam kausap si Ai Ai, lalaki siyang kausap. Gentle lady siya. Gusto niya talagang gawin ito. Nag-usap na kami. Nag-meeting na but unfortunately, because of legalities, hindi natuloy.
"And in all fairness kay Ai Ai, lahat ng desisyon niya ikinunsulta niya sa akin," said Vic.
Ai Ai said that if Bossing would make another "Enteng Kabisote" next year, she would want to be part of it, along with Judy Ann Santos, who was newly cast in "Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si Ako" this year.
Directed by Wenn Deramas, "Sisterakas" is about the business rivalry of three sisters, Bernice (Vice Ganda), Detty (Ai Ai) and Roselle (Kris). Bernice's goal of becoming queen of the apparel industry forced Roselle to hire her hardworking sister Detty to prevent such a takeover.
Also in "Sisterakas" are child discovery Xyriel Manabat, and hot love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
