Nikki Gil’s most romantic moment with Billy Crawford

For Nikki Gil, the simplest moment with long-time boyfriend Billy Crawford can be the most romantic.

“I like it when a person appreciates and accepts your quirks and supports it,” she said during the press conference for the upcoming musical “They’re Playing Our Song.”

A case in point was when he blow-dried her hair.

“I remember when I took forever dressing up and I’m rushing and I remember Billy offering to blow dry my hair for me,” Nikki narrated. “And we even had a photo op because he was so dead serious in trying to speed things up and to make things less hassle for me.”

“So blinow-dry niya talaga yung hair ko. I think that's the most romantic thing he's ever done.”

The Kapamilya actress said Billy is always there to support her.

“With all of the stuff I’ve done, he’s ever present. Wala naman akong masabi sa support ni Billy. Manager-level, and I really appreciate it.”

Nikki and Billy have been together for almost five years. “We’re good.  We’re happy. We’re stable, we’re steady,” she said of her relationship with the “It’s Showtime” TV host.” And while they’ve talked about settling down, Nikki said it probably won’t happen in the near future.

“There’s so many things going on for the both of us, and other stuff that we won’t be able to handle if we (settle down). Someday, we’ll see,” she explained.

Food for the soul

Nikki returns to theater  with “They’re Playing Our Song.”

Why does the  singer-stage actress- keep on coming back to the stage despite her busy schedule (she is also part of the upcoming ABS-CBN drama “Apoy sa Dagat”)?

“What I love about the theater is it is like food for the soul,” Nikki said.

She added: “This is the kind of thing that you don’t just get into just because. Parang, ‘Hmm, feel ko mag-theater.’ No, you can’t. It’s something you dive into, both feet in the water.”

“You really put your mind and heart into it. The fuel talaga for theater is love.”

This is the Kapamilya’s third stage musical: She played Elle Woods in the local production of “Legally Blonde” in 2010 and essayed the lead role in 2011’s “Sweet Charity.”

For “They’re Playing Our Song,” Nikki will play a role Lea Salonga once did in the '90s.

But this only inspires Nikki, who says she’s a “die-hard fan” of the Broadway actress. In fact, she said her dream collaboration is to work with Lea.

“They’re Playing Our Song” will run at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City from February 8 to March 3.
