(UPDATE 2) Officers of  ABS-CBN’s gag show “Goin’ Bulilit” have until August 6 to submit remedial measures to the  Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

The MTRCB announced this in its official Twitter account on Monday, Aug. 5, even as it said these measures should include the appointment of a child psychologist and a post review.

Closer collaboration

MTRCB also revealed in the same Twitter post that it is requiring  “Goin’ Bulilit” to closely collaborate with the former for three months, for “reform measures, including post review.”

MTRCB chair Toto Villareal and “Goin’ Bulilit’s”  TV production head Laurenti Dyogi and director Edgar Mortiz agreed on these measures after a marathon conference on Monday, Aug. 5.

It will be recalled that the MTRCB summoned the show’s officers to a meeting because of “many disturbing scenes in several episodes which allegedly compromise the innocence of both child actors and child viewers.”

Villareal says the scenes allegedly make children talk about “inflicting physical harm on others, put-downs on one’s spouse, cheating in elections and the commission of wrongdoing.”

He adds that some of the scenes allegedly show religious insensitivity.

MTRCB  held a Family and Child Summit educators and parents expressed  concern over how children absorb and copy what they see, hear and experience in media.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Head of Integrated Corporate Communications, Bong Osorio sent the following statement to Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other members of the press.

"The production and creative teams of Goin' Bulilit  have met with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) today and has agreed to submit tomorrow the proposal for the “joint resolutions” that will aim to protect the interest of the viewers."

“Goin’ Bulilit” is a gag show that casts child in grown-up roles. The multi-awarded show is Mortiz’s brainchild.
