Two GMA-7 shows are in hot water. The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has summoned the noontime show “Eat Bulaga” and its pre-programming, “The Ryzza Mae Show”  to a mandatory conference on Thursday, Sept. 5 “for scenes allegedly insensitive and unfriendly to children.”

MTRCB chair Atty. Toto Villareal  said in an SMS to Yahoo! Philippines OMG! on Sept. 4 that “Bulaga’s” July 29 edition saw one of the hosts spitting juice into child star Ryzza Mae Dizon’s face.

In the August 14 edition of “The Ryzza Mae Show,” on the other hand, a contest winner told the eight-year-old host, “Landing bata ka.”  Ryzza  explained that she’s just a child, and asked the contest winner not to be harsh on her.

“These scenes palpably violate the dignity of the child and have to be addressed by the show’s producer, TAPE, Inc. as well as GMA Channel 7, over which the shows air.  The MTRCB hopes for the cooperation of all those concerned in finding out what caused those scenes, who are responsible, and what immediate and concrete measures can be done so they do not happen again,” Villareal said.

He added that the MTRCB is reiterating its “serious and urgent concern” for children, who he described as “the most vulnerable in media and entertainment.”
