′Moonlight Prince′ Gets Over 5,000 Viewers to Join In Its Good Cause

KBS2′s Moonlight Prince has managed to gather over 5,000 people for its viewer donation campaign in just two weeks.

A rep from Moonlight Prince announced on February 3 that "5,955 viewers have joined in the donation campaign."

"They′ve managed to gather 5 million won," it added.

Moonlight Prince hosts a quiz every episode, and when the guest manages to answer all the questions in the quiz, 10 million won prize money is donated to a recipient of the guest′s choice. Lee Seo Jin, the show′s first guest, donated his prize to Habitat for Humanity, while the show′s second guest Kim Soo Ro gave his prize to the Daehangno Small Theater.

For the viewers who wished to join in the cause, the producers of Moonlight Prince set up a donation campaign with Naver′s Happy Bean, in which viewers could leave comments that counted for 100 won in donations each.

A total of 5 million won can be gathered for the week, meaning that the show will be able to donate 15 million won at the most every week, with the 10 million won in guest prize money and 5 million won from the viewer campaign.

The producers of Moonlight Prince said, "Though we weren′t able to promote the viewer donations much because the show has only run two episodes, we′ve been surprised at the increasing number of participants. We wish to thank the guests and the five hosts for nearly memorizing every book of the week to make the show meaningful, and the viewers who have been showing their love for the show through the campaign. We′re still lacking in many ways, but we′ll work hard to repay them with a better show."

Moonlight Prince has drawn the spotlight to Hwang Seok Young′s Hesperus and Shakespeare′s King Lear as well as Habitat for Humanity and the Daehangno Small Theater, successfully building social attention on books and good deeds.

The next episode of Moonlight Prince, featuring Lee Bo Young, will air on February 5.
